Greens are chock full of vitamins and minerals but don’t affect to your calorie count. Make sure when you are diving into a salad, that it is full of spinach and kale, as these two greens bring a lot of beneficial properties to your oral health. Believe it or not, these greens are packed full of calcium, which helps keep your teeth going strong. Additionally, these greens include folic acid and vitamin B, which can help with gum disease. If you aren’t a huge salad person, work your way up to this stage. Throw some spinach in your morning smoothie or put some kale on your pizza.

Apples

The old saying goes “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” While this may not always be true, apples definitely contribute to a healthy diet and lifestyle. As you should already know, staying away from sugar is a priority when trying to balance a healthy diet. However, natural sugars are great in moderation. Apples are definitely a sweeter fruit that also has tons of fiber and water. Like cheese, eating an apple will cause your mouth to produce saliva which will prevent harmful bacteria from forming. The texture of the apple also can stimulate your gums, similar to brushing your teeth. Apples are great to have on hand as a snack in between meals.

Almonds

While many people think that they need to stay away from hard foods, such as nuts, almonds are a great snack and good for your overall oral health. Almonds, like most of the other food on our list, are full of protein and calcium, which keeps teeth durable. Because they are a harder substance, you do want to be cautious when eating handfuls of these because there is a possibility of damaging a tooth. Almonds are great during lunch or as a mid-afternoon bite. Enjoy a delicious treat without any added sugar!
